You haven’t had Covid…..SOMEONE has!

You haven’t lost someone due to Covid…..SOMEONE has!

You don’t have an immunocompromised child…..SOMEONE does!

You don’t enjoy wearing a mask…..NO ONE does!

You don’t live in poverty…..SOMEONE does!

You haven’t experienced a crippling accident…..SOMEONE has!

You haven’t lost your job…..SOMEONE has!

You haven’t experienced prejudice…..SOMEONE has!

You haven’t experienced racism…..SOMEONE has!

You haven’t experienced the pain of homophobia…..SOMEONE has!

You haven’t been the victim of abuse…..SOMEONE has!

You haven’t had medical bills that sent you to bankruptcy…..SOMEONE has!

You haven’t had cancer…..SOMEONE has!

You haven’t lost a loved one to cancer…..SOMEONE has!

You haven’t fought depression…..SOMEONE has!

You don’t battle a mental illness every day…..SOMEONE does!

This list could be endless! I just wish we could live as if we have experienced these things. I wish we could live with empathy or at least sympathy. It doesn’t make us weak, it doesn’t mean we are snowflakes, it doesn’t mean we hate the USA! It does mean that we have compassion in our hearts, that we care about other people’s feelings and want them to feel safe and heard! It does mean that, though I am far from perfect…..I am running after Jesus every single day, praying to be His hands and feet in a broken, sad world! Politics will not fix it! Money will not fix it! Church will not fix it! Only if we can find it in our hearts to treat others as we wish to be treated….only if we can at least TRY to walk a day in someone else’s shoes…..only if we can see life from each other’s broken hearts, will we ever have any chance of fixing anything.
